Štih Hall, Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Hosted by MEPs Ivo VAJGL (DeSUS/Alde)

Demographic change in Europe is an inevitable phenomenon which is more and more present on political agendas of EU and national decision-makers. Living in a long-life society poses different questions and challenges in different fields of social life, such as health & social security, intergenerational solidarity, life-learning and employment of older people. Countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe are not immune to this challenges.

The conference will try to illuminate different views on the challenge of ACTIVE AGEING which is inevitably connected with fields of volunteering, employment of older people, public health and the inclusion of older people in their social environment and public life. The conference will also raise questions of older people's rights that are reducing because of impacts of introducing measures for the exit from financial crisis.

We will also invite guests from European parliament and some non-governmental organizations to present their views and experience from the field. The conference will be organized in the framework of the 15th Festival of the third age, an acknowledged event in Slovenia and in the region. It is an excellent example of connecting organizations, state institutions and others, who work in the field of elder care and active and healthy ageing.

The working language at the conference is English.

The conference is financially supported by ALDE – Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament
